The National Institute of Open Schooling an autonomous institution, is the largest open schooling system in the world. The National Institute of Open Schooling was formerly known as National Open School. It was established in November, 1989. Apart from Academic Courses at Secondary and Senior Secondary levels, and also it provides a number of Vocational, Life Enrichment and community oriented courses.

The Secondary & Senior Secondary courses provided by NIOS is designed for those who have passed the 10th class standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board and would like to continue their education towards a Senior Secondary Certification, equivalent to class 12th standard.

NIOS  October 2014 Examination:
1. NIOS holds its 12th class exam twice a year as its primary examination, once in April and once in October.
2. In the April 2014 examinations, close to two lakh students appeared for the Senior Secondary  exam.
3. NIOS will release the date sheet for Class 12 April 2015 exams in the months prior to the exams to allow the students ample time to prepare.
4. Students can visit www.naukrisms.com for update on the date sheet of NIOS.

a. Visit the official website of NIOS i.e. www.nios.ac.in, to get regular updates on date sheet.
b. The date sheet would provide details of the date and day of the exam, subjects, time and the paper code
c. Students are required to download the admit card, necessary for appearance in the exams, from the official website of NIOS.
